Holy atomic urinal, batman!
Ok, so I’m reading Atomic Habits and apparently
Schipol
Airport installed some fly stickers in the men’s urinals and reduced ‘spillage’ and trimmed cleaning costs by 8%.
Fly stickers placed in urinals to curb over-spray.
There’s a lot to unpack here…
- Peeing on a life form
- Are we that distracted/bored/far-sighted that we need a clear marker to hit a target at point blank range that’s comfortably larger than the source?
- Peeing on an object that can fly seems like a bad idea - ever see a wet dog dry off?
- While we’re at it, why not (insert least favorite celeb/politician) photo as a target? You can have left and right urinals and record support or lack thereof.
- Personally, and I am assessing some judgement here, but I try not to pee on my own shoes.
- Stickers are certainly cheaper than refitting a bathroom, however, when building new, maybe we should consider over-spray-proof designs?
- This is not cultural…this is global behavior for males. Is this a marking territory vestigial behavior?
